Pomegranates, long celebrated for their cultural significance and health benefits, are now the focus of research revealing their impact on aging and brain health. A study from the University of Valencia found that a potent pomegranate extract, POMANOX®, can improve aging models’ motor skills, coordination, and brain function. Standardized to contain 30% punicalagin, POMANOX® was shown to reduce oxidative stress and support healthy gene expression related to apoptosis, a process linked to healthy aging.

The extract also helped maintain antioxidant levels and prevent frailty in elderly mice, suggesting a potential role in mitigating age-related decline. While grip strength and endurance were unaffected, improved neuromuscular function and motor skills were observed. The study positions pomegranate extract as a promising natural remedy for supporting brain health and preventing frailty as part of healthy aging.
