A little more about, Dr Amalia Treadwell, ND, LC

1) What motivated you to become a Naturopath?
The desire to see people become healthy so they have more energy to devote to accomplishing their greatest dreams. I also really enjoy working with people and using all of the modalities we have available.

2) What is one of your most difficult cases in clinical practice?

I’ve been working on a case of low progesterone manifesting as light and spotty periods for a while. There is no biochemical or physiologic cause we can find and are focusing on treating the individual and figuring out the root cause. It’s been slow going but the person I’m working with is so dedicated to figuring out why this might be happening and treating that rather than a quick but impermanent cure.

3) Who inspired you to practice medicine?

My father – who is not a doctor- suggested this might be a good fit for me when I was recently out of college and after lots of research and learning about the profession I agreed.

4) What are your areas of expertise?

Acupuncture, spiritual-emotional aspects of disease, digestive issues

Dr. Amalia Treadwell is a board-certified naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist in Oregon. After graduating from the National College of Natural Medicine (now NUNM) in 2012 she opened her private practice in Portland, Oregon. She most often works with women to improve digestion and hormonal health, and address the mental-emotional-spiritual aspects of disease. She loves her work because it combines her connection to the earth and its wisdom with a love of nutrition, and a holistic understanding of health and wellness. She thrives on supporting people’s health so that they are free to achieve their wildest dreams. Out of the office she is most often outdoors with her husband, in the garden, or in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
