Public Back Ban on Children’s Junk Food Advertising

(NaturalPath) In a survey published by Cancer Research UK, three quarters of the public in the United Kingdom backs a ban on junk food advertising before nine o’clock. Additionally, half of the people surveyed also supported a tax on sugary drinks, helping tackle the rising childhood obesity epidemic.

Other results from the survey included, 69 percent supporting reducing junk food advertising online and 66 percent supporting cutting price promotions on junk food.

Being overweight or obese can lead to preventable illnesses and death including type two diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Obesity is a huge problem in the UK as more than one in five children are overweight or obese when they enter primary school. Worse, this increases to one in three in year six.
