Recognizing and Embracing Feminine Energy

Last post, I shared some ideas I have about fixing the world’s problems, including our declining health, by understanding the duality that exists in all of us to cultivate ideal relationships and orgasmic sex. Today I’d like to build on that by getting super clear on why we need to recognize and embrace our yin or feminine side.

The following are real-world consequences of insufficient yin to counter excess masculine force:

What perpetuates the world with too little feminine energy and/or too much yang?

  1. Working long hard hours – so much focus on achievement, growth, success at all costs
  2. Obsession with money, consumption and collecting material things
  3. Overexercising
  4. Driving in traffic
  5. Overusing stimulants and caffeine
  6. Seeking connection and/or distraction outside of human contact: TV/movies, video games, social media, sex, drug and alcohol abuse

I believe this has occurred because feminine power has been marginalized, extremely devalued and discarded. Jimmy Carter sums this fact up succinctly and frankly in this TED talk.

How to use water to lubricate your feminine needs

In physiology, we learn that water is necessary for cell life as a carrier of essential nutrients, it removes waste products, helps break down food, moistens tissues, regulates our temperature, prevents constipation, lubricates joints and acts as a shock absorber. Being even slightly dehydrated can make you feel tired and weak. There are serious implications, including death, if the body doesn’t get enough water for prolonged periods.

In chinese medicine, the water element represents the kidney and urinary bladder which influence water control in the body (leading to swelling or peeing a lot). This system harmonizes sexual function by regulating many hormones in the body, making conception possible. Spiritually, this element signifies perseverence and willpower. Emotionally, the kidneys are damaged by fear and nurtured through self-mastery.

How you can boost the yin/feminine energy in your life (whether you’re a man or woman!):

  1. Take a bath
  2. Get a massage
  3. Introspection & writing
  4. Spending time in nature
  5. Meditation or stillness
  6. Deep restful sleep
  7. Routine and habits
  8. Eating cooling foods
  9. Nurturing homes and raising children
  10. Caring for the sick and elderly
  11. Teaching and generosity
  12. Drink filtered water (1/2 your body weight in ounces everyday)

Mama Nature knows (she is Queen of Yin, afterall). She’s given us many warnings as of late: natural disasters, crazy weather patterns, industrial explosions, damaged ecosystems altering our food supply…etc. She’s trying desperately to wake us up to see our role in it. The United Nations has recently proposed some solutions in the Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that you can download for free here. Lofty goals, some would say, as an aquarian in the Age of Aquarius, I feel nothing if not hope and optimism.
