I spend a lot of time at my computer for work, and it’s much more enjoyable when I make myself a delicious healthy smoothie or cup of tea. It also reminds me to take time away from sitting in front of the screen to stretch my legs and search my pantry or garden for an ingredient to use.

Long Life Punch

Meyer lemons originated in China and are named after the explorer who brought them to North America. Full of vitamin C they lack the acidity of lemons but have all the brightness of flavour. I’m not European but isn’t flavor much more fun spelled like flavour? Anyway, matcha (ceremonial green tea ground into a fine powder) has been much studied for its anti-cancer properties, and although vitamin c is pretty common, many of us just don’t realize how important it is in metabolism and healing. Both green tea and citrus are known to promote collagen production for healthy tissues and vibrant skin. That’s why I call this Meyer lemon and matcha elixir long life punch!

Recipelong life punch

One serving:

  • Juice of two Meyer lemons
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 tsp organic matcha

Add matcha to the bottom of a cup and mix in a tablespoon of water and honey to incorporate into a slurry. Add lemon juice and water. One of my girlfriends would probably like this with a shot of vodka. You know who you are.

Adjust amount of water to suit your taste.
