CDC’s COVID-19 Self-Checker

Razi Berry

The COVID-19 pandemic has been overwhelming to the healthcare system globally. Many countries are finding it difficult to keep up with increasing infections. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched an online triage tool to assist with this burden. Individuals will be able to use the online tool to make decisions regarding whether or not they need to seek medical care.

COVID-19 self-checker has been called “Clara”

The COVID-19 self-checker has been called “Clara.” Clara is a bot used as a triage system, which will assess disease severity and save time. It is also intended to reduce the burden on the healthcare system, doctors and hospitals.

U.S. residents are encouraged to use the bot to help determine if seeking medical care is necessary

Residents in the United States are encouraged to use the bot to help determine if seeking medical care is necessary. The way that the bot works is by asking various questions, such as presenting symptoms, underlying medical conditions, and if the person has been in contact with COVID-19.

The bot also asks questions to determine symptom severity, as well as the location of the patient.

The self-checker can be found here
