Cranberry Juice Impacts Heart, Blood Pressure, Triglycerides and More in Adults

BELTSVILLE, MD. – Drinking low-calorie cranberry juice can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in adults.

It also reduces the risk associated with circulating triglycerides, high blood glucose, insulin resistance, and high diastolic blood pressure, according to a study out of Beltsville, MD.

The study was published in the June edition of The Journal of Nutrition

The double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm study was done on 30 women and 26 men with controlled diets over eight weeks. The participants consumed about 240 mL of low calorie cranberry juice or a placebo beverage made with phenolic compounds and 6.5 or 7.5 grams of total sugar.

The study was done because cardio-metabolic risk and cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or stroke, are leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide.

The conclusion is regular consumption of low-calorie cranberry juice will reduce the risks of these common diseases.
