(NaturalPath) According to tests done at Microbe Inotech Laboratories, Inc, in St. Louis, the glyphosate weed killer that is found in Roundup was found in Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Strawberries and Cream flavor) at an astonishing amount of 1,327 parts per billion. This is significant because these are levels that surpass what has been found in other foods. The weird part is that oats aren’t even GMO. You’d expect glyphosate to be sprayed on herbicide resistant crops, but it is also routinely sprayed on wheat, barley and oat crops.
In comparison, Nature’s Path Organic Instant Oatmeal shows just another reason to go organic in that their results showed less than 75 parts per billion, which is essentially zero. While the Oatmeal had the highest concentration of the chemical, other foods that were laced with the weed killer included Thomas’s Whole Wheat Bagels, Rudio Multibagels, Pepperidge Farm Whole GrainBread 100 percent Whole Wheat, Dave’s Killer Whole Wheat Bread, 365 Coffee Creamer and Cream of Wheat hot Cereal Whole Grain.
Glyphosate has been listed by the IARC as “probably carcinogenic” which is why it is concerning that it is being found in larger amounts in more foods.
