One sleepless night is annoying. For those with persistent insomnia coupled with comorbidity, such as generalized anxiety disorder, it can be negatively life-altering. In a Cureus case report, a 27-year-old man suffering from insomnia for over two decades tried homeopathy.

About chronic insomnia:

  • Its worldwide prevalence is
    • 10% of the general population
    • 50% of primary care patients
  • Frequent comorbidities:
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Schizophrenia
  • Medications may
    • Be ineffective in 30% of patients with anxiety
    • Cause adverse reactions

Homeopathy “produced a remarkable improvement within four months,” say the researchers. The “patient’s insomnia level, which was initially moderate despite taking two somnifacients, decreased to a non-significant level, even after he quit the aforementioned drugs.” The positive results continued to at least the time of the writing of the article’s conclusion. The authors stress that further research is needed.
