A recent clinical trial published in the Journal of the American Nutritional Association highlights the promising effects of a patented green coffee bean extract (GCB70®), enriched with 70% chlorogenic acid, on weight management in overweight and obese individuals. Conducted by Verma et al., this 12-week open-label study involved 105 participants aged 18 to 65, all of whom had a BMI over 25 kg/m².

Participants took 500 mg of GCB70 twice daily while tracking their dietary intake. Results showed significant reductions in mean body weight (5.96%), BMI (5.65%), and waist circumference (7.84 cm). Key metabolic markers also improved, with fasting blood glucose levels decreasing by 13.05% and HbA1c levels dropping from 6.39% to 6.01%.

These findings suggest that GCB70 could be a beneficial adjunct to traditional obesity treatments. Researchers emphasize the need for further large-scale studies to explore its long-term efficacy and safety. As obesity rates soar globally, incorporating natural compounds like chlorogenic acid may provide new avenues for effective management.
