(NaturalPath) According to a study out of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, “pulses” which are non-oil seeds of legumes such as beans, lentils, chickpeas and dry peas, can help with weight control.

The researchers conducted an analysis of a variety of databases and uses methodologies to assess and weight the quality of the research.

Out of 21 trials and 940 participants, the study found an overall significant weight reduction in diets containing dietary pulses, compared with diets without a dietary pulse intervention over a median duration of six weeks. It may also reduce body fat percentage.
